FAQ + T&C’s
-
What ages do you coach?
We usually recommend starting from age 3 and up, any younger and you're mostly chasing toddlers while they chase butterflies. (We’ve been there. We are parents.)
That said, there’s no such thing as “too old” to start! If you’re 70 and ready to roll, we are so here for it. Skateboarding is for everyone, wobbly legs, grey hairs, and all.
-
Do I need my own Skateboard and Helmet?
Nope! If you don’t have your own gear yet, don’t stress , you can hire a skateboard and helmet for just $5. Just add it on when you’re booking your session via our scheduling link.
Bonus perk: If you're joining us for Term sessions, equipment hire is totally FREE. That’s right, more skating, less spending

Where we recommend you buying your Skateboard, Helmet & Pads?
We’ve got a few favourite spots! Our go-to skate shops are the legends at OCD Skate Shop and FAST TIMES, They’ll get you sorted with quality gear and good vibes.
And for the perfect board to kick off your skate journey, check out our mates at Techno & Co, they’re a local brand we love, and their boards are just right for beginners looking to roll in style.
-
What if I don’t have a waiver filled out?
Yep, safety first, always! You can find the waiver right here.
For under 18s: A parent or guardian must be the one to fill it out (no exceptions, we checked with the legal grown-ups).
Over 18? You can fill out your own. Adulting win!✨ Already filled one out before? You're all set, no need to do it again unless we ask for an update.
-
Do you have holiday programs?
You bet we do! Our School Holiday Programs are open to skaters aged 4–17, with sessions for complete beginners all the way to advanced trick machines. Whether it’s your first time on a board or you’re perfecting that kickflip, we’ve got something rad for you!
-
TELL US ABOUT THE COACHES?
Our coaches are not just AMAZING on a board, they’re fully qualified legends. Every coach at Curbside Coaching has a Working With Children Check, plus current CPR and First Aid certification (because safety = cool).
Oh, and we’re officially sanctioned by the Australian Skateboarding Federation, so you know you’re learning from the real deal. Skate safe, skate smart, skate fun!

Can you tell me about your Private Lessons?
Where can do I find Private Lessons? Private Lessons can be found on our website under the Private Lessons section, it’s actually private, you get the entire Indoor/Outdoor facility to yourself. Book in, and get ready to roll!
I’ve booked a Private Lesson, what do I need to bring? Think of it as packing for a mini skate adventure. You’ll need: Your helmet (protect that brain, it’s the only one you’ve got), Your skateboard (unless you’ve selected hire, then we’ve got you!) Pads (knee/elbow/wrist, optional but recommended if you value your elbows) A water bottle (hydration is radical)
Bonus tip: You’ll get a confirmation email with all the juicy details. Can’t find it? Check your junk folder, sometimes emails like to hide.
I can’t make my Private Lesson — can I reschedule?
Life happens — we get it. Here's the deal:
Let us know at least 48 hours in advance, and we’ll happily reschedule your lesson. No drama.
Cancelling within 24 hours of your session? That’s a bit trickier; a 50% cancellation fee applies (sorry, our coaches still need to eat).
P.S. Don’t forget to check out our full Terms & Conditions below for all the fine print.

Can I book in for Group Sessions in Term 3?
Sure can! Check out our current availability [HERE] and if Term 3 is full, don’t panic — jump on the waitlist [HERE] and we’ll be in touch faster than you can say “ollie.”
Can I book a trial session? Possibly! It depends on space, but we’d love to try make it work. Just shoot us an email at info@curbsidecoaching.com.au and we’ll see what we can do!
Can I watch my child during Group Sessions? We get it, watching your kid shred is awesome. BUT for our Beginners to Advanced sessions, we run a drop-and-go vibe. Kids focus better without an audience (plus, nobody needs stage fright when they’re learning to roll). That said, we do welcome parents to the first session to meet the coach and help your little skater settle in. If you need to stay after that, we kindly ask you stay off the skatepark floor, safety first!
Worried your child might need a bit of extra support? Totally normal. Just chat with their coach, we’re here to help every kid feel comfortable.
What about Groms? Groms = tiny skaters + full parental presence. You’ll be there for every session in a designated area, as pointed out by your coach. Why? To keep it safe and make sure no randoms wander in during skate time. You’re part of the team!
